LICENSED PARELLI PROFESSIONALS
INSTRUCTORS HELP CHANGE THE WORLD!
A few years after meeting Pat Parelli, Linda cautioned him about burning out. With our mission being to change the world, there is no way we could do that single-handedly. Having trained teachers before, Linda proposed an instructor program and together they began training specialized Parelli Professionals in 1993. Today there are over 200 worldwide.
Parelli students look for Parelli Instructors they can trust, who they know are close to Pat and Linda, and are passing on the purest information from the Parelli Program.
Not only are Parelli Professionals good with horses, but they are also great with people. Learning is not easy, and we believe it is really important to inspire confidence in the student. When you feel supported and encouraged, you learn more easily and stay motivated.
Most students take lessons, workshops, and clinics to support and accelerate what they learn in the Parelli Levels Program curriculum as a member of the Savvy Club.
There are two ratings for Parelli Professionals, Instructors, and Horse Development Specialists, that you can select according to your needs.
All Parelli Professionals meet professional requirements set by Pat Parelli and his team, attend professional conferences, and are required to take Continued Education (CE). Above all, they maintain the spirit of Parelli and are committed, as a team, to help us on our mission to make the world a better place for horses and the people who love them.

HOW DO I APPLY TO BE AN INSTRUCTOR?
First, you must take and pass 4 weeks of courses, either consecutively or over time, at one of the campuses. After you have taken these courses and have officially passed Level 4 in the Parelli Program in all 4 Savvys (On line, FreeStyle, Liberty, and Finesse) you can apply to attend the 12-week Externship by emailing email@example.com.
A minimum initial attendance of 12 weeks is required, although you can apply to stay for up to 5 years. Acceptance into the internship, apprentice, and protégé Programs have different time and grade requirements and are usually only offered to the top 10% of the class.
Once your application to the 12-week Externship is accepted, you are in the induction phase of the Mastery Program, although you are not officially a Mastery Student until you pass the 12-week Externship. Upon completion of the externship, a score of 80% or higher is required to qualify for consideration of a 1-Star rating. If your score is below 80%, additional horsemanship over 6 months is required before reapplying.

STAR RATINGS & SPECIALIZATIONS
You will notice varying numbers of stars next to an instructor’s name. This rating indicates the level of expertise and experience as an instructor and the level to which they are certified to teach in each of the Four Savvy’s (Level 1,2,3,4). It also indicates the scope of their license, from lessons to workshops to clinics.
Finesse Specialists have studied directly with Linda Parelli and achieved a special certification for teaching her concepts on riding position, contact, and the Precision Box.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GRADUATE WITH A 1-STAR RATING?
When you are awarded a 1-Star rating you will officially be part of an elite team of Professionals striving to raise the level of horsemanship worldwide.
Before you begin teaching you will need to sign a License Agreement, pay your Parelli License Fee and obtain appropriate Liability Insurance. Once you have submitted all the required paperwork to the Parelli Professionals Department and have received a copy of the co-signed License Agreement, you may begin teaching your free hours.
All new Parelli Instructors are required to teach a minimum number of free hours to develop their confidence and skill in teaching the Parelli Program to students and their horses. The free hours are a great way to build clientele while developing your own unique way of effectively teaching Pat Parelli’s program.
As a 1-Star Parelli Instructor, you will be able to teach lessons, group lessons, and 1-day workshops in both the On Line and FreeStyle Savvys to a maximum group size of four students for one full day.
HOW DO I ADVANCE TO A 2-STAR INSTRUCTOR?
By diligently tracking your activity, maintaining a clean professional record, and taking the required continuing education courses, you may qualify for consideration of a 2-Star rating after spending at least one year as a 1-Star Parelli Instructor. The Parelli Professionals Board evaluates and awards all Star Rating advancements
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GRADUATE WITH A 2-STAR RATING?
While the primary journey for advancement begins at the 1-Star rating, there are a very few that score high enough to begin the journey as a 2-Star.
As with the 1-Star rating before you begin teaching you will need to sign a License Agreement, pay your Parelli License Fee and obtain appropriate Liability Insurance. Once you have submitted all the required paperwork to the Parelli Professionals Department and have received the co-signed License Agreement, you may begin teaching your free hours.
As a 2-Star Parelli Instructor, you will be able to teach lessons, group lessons, and workshops in the On Line, FreeStyle, and Liberty Savvys to a maximum group size of six students for one or two full days.
HOW DO I ADVANCE TO A 3-STAR INSTRUCTOR RATING?
By diligently tracking your activity, maintaining a clean professional record, and taking the required continuing education courses, you may qualify for consideration of a 3-Star rating after spending at least two years as a 2-Star Parelli Instructor.
Since a 3-Star rating is the first level of Instructor that is fully endorsed to teach levels 1-4 in all Four Savvys of the Parelli Program, all of the above in addition to time and grade, knowledge, dedication, and experience are paramount in consideration for advancement to this rating.
Advancement to all-star ratings above 3-Star is by invitation only. Please see the guidelines for more details on what it takes to get in, stay in, advance, what you get if you advance, and what it takes to be demoted or dismissed for each Star Rating.
